Formed in 2011, Mark Prunty (guitar/vox), Podge Gill (guitar/vox), Ross McNerney (banjo/mandolin), Emmett Collum (drums) are the four Co. Longford (Ireland) men of Brave Giant. Their love of Irish music is evident in their sound, a skilfully achieved blend of rock, folk and alternative influences.
Already on a steady upward curve in their native Ireland, with more than nine sold out shows over the last 18 months, main stage festival slots and a series of Top 5 singles, including ‘Way To Love’ going to no 1 on iTunes main pop chart last winter, this show at THE ISLINGTON on Wednesday October 31st will be the band’s first headline show in London
The last two years have been remarkable for the independent band. The Time I Met the Devil single from 2017 has enjoyed almost 100,000 views alone (featuring Irish actor and comedian, Joe Rooney – Father Ted) adding to the band’s impressive overall tally of over 1,000,000 online video views. The independent band’s Spotify streams have also surpassed the impressive 1 million point.
Brave Giant were also invited to join Gavin James as ambassador for Bord na Móna’s inaugural #HearthSessions campaign in Ireland, quite the invite for so early in their career.
The band has already increased its tally of sell out shows in their home city. Brave Giant’s show at the city’s highly regarded Button Factory on (this) September 22nd sold out earlier this summer, and a second special late night show for Sept 21st announced last month is also selling fast.
If you have a soft spot for the Lumineers, Bear’s Den, and the like, chances are you will get these guys! October 31st, come down to The Islington and see for yourself what the growing buzz is about.
