Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun just cannot be lumped in with any scene you care to name. Since kicking the doors off of every pen they’ve been herded into by press, radio and casual listeners with their exquisite second album Death in 2012, Jim and his band have toured with a vast array of entertainers. Mumford & Sons, Pete Doherty, Frank Turner (including joining him for his 2012 Olympics opening ceremony performance), Drag the River, might all be expected, but in 2013 they also supported Dropkick Murphys and participated in the UK leg of Vans Warped Tour alongside Billy Talent, Coheed & Cambria, and Sonic Boom Six. Described as one of Frank’s favourite songwriters, Jim Lockey and the Solemn Sun continue to inspire others with a blend of fierce and folk style which is unassailable and unmistakable.
