ARTHUR & MARTHA reunite for a one off show SATURDAY 2ND MARCH 2019 for TEC005 also featuring PLASMIC + RAINLAND at The Islington in London

Arthur and Martha is the indietronica project of Adam Cresswell (founder member of John Peel Festive 50 no1 act SALOON & now known for the quirky synthpop of RODNEY CROMWELL) and Alice Hubley (a familiar face on the live circuit, having played in THE DULOKS, COSINES and MAS DATURA and more.)

Arthur & Martha’s blend of electronica was branded ‘cutie krautrock’ or ‘tweetronica’ – they used using toy and playground electronic gizmos, battered old synth and cheapo drum machines to create gentle, tinny yet poignant pulsebeats that propel their achingly pretty, minor-chord melodies. Imagine, if you will, St Etienne in space or Kraftwerk playing the Field Mice at a freshers’ disco.
Their only album ‘Navigation’ was released in 2009 to critical acclaim and they were featured in The Word, The Guardian, Artrocker and NME with Radio play from BBC6 Music and Radio 1. In 2019 they will be releasing a long awaited remix album and playing this their first show in 10 years!

Support the bill will be the PLASMIC from Mission Viejo California with her infectious lo-fi synth anthems. She has been described as “your abused Barbie doll from childhood”. Combining J-Pop with CRYSTAL CASTLES and DEVO, her immensely catchy feminist electropop anthems utilise a mixture of vintage Casio and Yamaha sounds to challenge expectations.

Opening will be Scottish synthpop duo RAINLAND. Ian Ferguson and Derek MacDonald were previously musical lynchpins behind ANALOG ANGEL. With their stomping synthpop in the vein of ULTRAVOX, and having accompanied ASSEMBLAGE 23 on two UK tours, their rousing stage manner make them perfect openeners for the show.
