Fiona Bevan is a British-Canadian songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist from Suffolk, UK with a sweet, fiery voice and a soulful folk-pop sound creating “startling odysseys that suggest Erykah Badu, Joanna Newsom and Kate Bush spine-tinglingly joined” (The Guardian).

Her new EP, ‘Wild Angels Sweet Demons’, was produced by Grammy award-winning engineer Robin Baynton (Mumford And Sons, Laura Marling, Isaac Gracie) and went straight to number 3 in the iTunes singer-songwriter chart in November 2018.

After recording an “Under The Apple Tree” session for Bob Harris in 2016, an appearance at the C2C festival in London soon followed and a string of UK festivals that summer brought The Southern Companion firmly into the hearts of Country & Americana fans.

Multiple British CMA Awards, a coveted Showcase slot for The AMA-UK, National air play on BBC Radio 2 from Bob Harris, a UK No. 1 album “Shine A Little Light” (iTunes Country Chart) as well as a featured song in the smash hit movie “Wild Rose” feat. Two time winner of Best Female vocalist at the British Country Music Awards, Laura Oakes has enjoyed some of the UK’s most prestigious festivals and stages including C2C, The Great Escape, The Long Road, Liverpool Sound City, Black Deer, Cornbury Music Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival and Camp Bestival. As well as support slots for some of the most notable talent coming out of the UK and US, including Andrew Combs, Jimmy Allen, Devin Dawson, The Shires, Sarah Darling, Jess and The Bandits and Ward Thomas.

Her 2017 acoustic EP “Nashville Stole Your Girl” achieved number 5 in the iTunes UK Country Music Chart and received much critical acclaim, securing a session on Bob Harris’ BBC Radio 2 Country show.
In addition to hosting her own nights at the award winning venue, The Green Note in London, most recently Laura has been working on new music, inspired by her trips to Nashville writing with some of the world’s best musicians (James T Slater (Martina McBride), Beth Nielson Chapman (Faith Hill) and Jason Lehning (Alison Krauss)) .
