O Anna O
Thanos and Tom first became colleagues, then friends, then housemates. Sharing passion for driven garage guitar hooks, neurotic vocal lines, surf and Brit pop lightness and neo psychedelic introspection, they formed a band. It all came naturally, drawing from their experience in previous music projects, and uniting their British and Greek cultures.
Shades Of Plato
Shades of Plato began life in 2011, formed by masked miserablists Ol’ Dirty Flute and Captain Black. Early experiments with electronica culminated in the release of the blissed-out Symposia single and accompanying video in 2015. Glum guitarist Jack Sorrow came on board soon after, followed in quick succession by the exotic Pandora on drums. A more rock-orientated approach soon started to gel and the band played live for the first time whilst sessions began for a debut album. When Sparks Fail to Light… was eventually released in September, 2017 and got a 7/10 review in Vive Le Rock magazine, who described it as ‘a subversive soundtrack delivered to the altar of alternative rock music’. The title track, they thought, was ‘surely a goth epic in the making’. Expect a hybrid of goth, glam and maybe just a hint of prog. There are big, classic rock riffs and thumping Fender bass lines, not to mention concussive girl-powered percussion and, er, a peppering of flute. No one looks or sounds quite like Shades, so come on: join the masquerade!
