Grace Lightman has always sought to transport people with her music.
Previously working as a member of London psych outfit The Hypnotic Eye, her solo endeavours feature the kind of crunching, saucy electro-pop Goldfrapp previously made their own.
But there’s something more. Grace has this melodramatic flourish, this sweeping, all-encompassing atmosphere that hints towards speculative fiction, or even left field cinema.
New synth burner ‘Zero Impact’ is out now on ultra-cool London imprint Handsome Dad Records, with her brother Alex Lightman and creative director Edwin Burdis steering the video.
Grace takes the central role, while the video explores dystopian themes half-inched from classic sci-fi flicks from the 70s and 80s.
It’s a riveting watch, hugely imaginative while being centred in Grace Lightman’s curious charisma.
